Managing your money

Finding Easy Ways to Save

Saving money doesn’t have to be painful. There are some simple methods to get started. Consider taking at least one of the following steps:

  • Put $1 a day, plus pocket change, into a can or jar. At the end of the month, you’ll have about $50, or around $600 in one year. Save $2 a day, plus pocket change, and you’ll save more than $1,000 in a year.
  • If you have a job, find out if you can put part of your paycheck automatically into a savings account. What we don’t see we often don’t miss.
  • Put a refund, raise, or bonus into savings.

These are just a few ideas. You probably have a few ideas of your own that you can use to complete a Spending Decisions worksheet.
